It requires a persevering attitude of heart that constantly calls husband and wife to the gift of self-donation, a profound dying to self that places the will of God and the needs of the other above selfish considerations and desires. Such a marriage requires heroic virtue in any day and time, but perhaps especially in this our day and time.
